What do I Believe?

What is Truth?

Who Do I Serve?

What is my Purpose?

(John 1:1-18)

I find all my worth in whom I serve, not in what I do! I believe the Following even though I have not seen it happen:

“In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made.” (John 1:1-3)

What an amazing passage of Scripture! So much Truth packed in to so few words. How could man with his simple mind pack so much Truth so efficiently into so few words? The answer is he could not. It was done by inspiration of the Holy Spirit who has taken up the task of teaching and speaking to us about Jesus Christ. In fact, Jesus aptly gives us the role of the Holy Spirit in John’s gospel:

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” (John 14:26)

This gives us the answer to why the Bible is so perfect, complete, and exactly what we need. Also, I believe that the Holy Spirit is an actual being, is God, and is 1/3rd of the Godhead.

The Word or Jesus was in the beginning before anything was made. He is eternal. He has no beginning and No end. Eternal is beyond my comprehension, beyond my understanding. Also, how all things were created out of nothing, by and through Him by God the Father is yet again beyond what my finite mind is capable of understanding. I do not have to understand Him to believe His words and to believe in Him. I do not understand how oxygen is capable of sustaining me if I just breathe it. It is there regardless of my belief and understanding. I trust in it and choose to breath it in and it just does what it does without my understanding of it.

I place my trust in Jesus, by faith. I believe Jesus is God, and He always was/is, and that all Things were made by/through Him. I also believe that God is one being yet He has three distinct personalities: the Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. I also believe that all three personalities are in fact, one God. Again, this is beyond my understanding but it is the ultimate truth that all things come from.

I am so thankful for the Scriptures that God has chosen to reveal to us by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit of the words of Jesus, through human authors. The Holy Spirit has give us Scriptures so that we can have a relationship with God who Loves us. This love lead God to send a part of Himself in the form of Jesus to live and die a painful and sacrificial death. This act of love was done so that we could be right with God, so that He could have a relationship with us as His children. The punishment due us for our sin against God was paid in full by this sacrificial act of Love.

“But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1: 12-13)

Nothing I have done will ever earn this or let alone deserve this. This is all about the Love of God shown by His Grace “Unmerited favor,” through His sacrificial act.

“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” (John 1:4) I have life and Adoption as a child of God because of His choice and Grace. I did not deserve. I did not earn it. He earned, paid and Guarantees this life and salvation.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)

Jesus is “the true light, which gives light to everyone.”(John 1:9) He has shone His light to the world and the darkness has not and will never overcome Him. He is the only person that we can truly rely on. He will never fail nor forsake us.

And the word became flesh and dwelt among us and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, Full of Grace and truth. . . . No one has ever seen God, the only God, who is at the Father’s side, Jesus has made Him known.” (John 1:14, 18)

So this is what I believe. This is who I trust. This is where I find worth, meaning, and ultimate truth. I serve God with all that I have and all that I am. My purpose in life is to find and learn better ways to do the following:

6:4the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5You shall Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” (Deuteronomy 6: 4-7)

This is my truth, and my purpose. I give my life to His teachings and service, all the days of my life. This is who I am, His servant. My worth is in serving Him and this is the reason for this blog.
